Empress LE™ – 2026 Masterpiece Collection
Golden Herald, The Hidden Forest, and Moonlit Falls.
Created in extremely limited numbers, the 2026 Masterpiece Collection represents the most ambitious maki-e artistry and writing instrument design ever offered by TACCIA. Fully handcrafted in Japan, each Masterpiece is individually created by master lacquer artist Ikki Moroike, whose work reflects a deep command of Kaga maki-e, raised Togidashi lacquerwork, burnished surfaces, and intricate material detail.
Across the collection, advanced maki-e techniques are brought together in compositions of remarkable depth and complexity. Raised and polished lacquer, gold and metallic powders, raden inlay, rankaku eggshell work, and delicate surface textures create scenes that change with light, angle, and movement. Each design is composed as a continuous visual story, with imagery that moves around the writing instrument and reflects the depth and refinement of Japanese lacquer artistry: the motion of Golden Herald calling forward a new day, the nocturnal stillness of The Hidden Forest, and the moonlit natural landscape of Moonlit Falls.
These are heirloom, museum-quality works of lacquer art created around the form and function of a fountain pen. Every surface is built through patient handwork, with layers of lacquer, gold, shell, and texture forming images that reveal themselves slowly over time. They are made not only to be written with, but to be preserved, studied, and passed forward as rare examples of Japanese maki-e craftsmanship.
Each Empress Masterpiece is fitted with TACCIA’s exclusive two-tone 18k gold King of Pens nib, delivering a grand writing presence worthy of the artistry of the collection.
